This training session provides a comprehensive understanding of the internal audit process in accordance with ISO 19011, the international guideline for auditing management systems. The session is designed to strengthen participants’ competence in planning, conducting, reporting, and following up internal audits in a consistent, systematic, and risk-based manner.

The training covers the principles of auditing, including integrity, fair presentation, due professional care, confidentiality, independence, and the evidence-based approach. Participants will learn how to establish and manage an internal audit program, taking into account organizational context, risks and opportunities, process interactions, and the maturity of the management system.

Practical guidance is provided on audit planning and preparation, including defining audit objectives, scope, criteria, and methods; preparing audit plans and checklists; selecting audit teams; and ensuring auditor competence and impartiality. The session also addresses effective on-site audit techniques, such as interviewing, observation, sampling, and review of documented information and records.

The training further explains how to identify, classify, and document audit findings, including nonconformities, observations, and opportunities for improvement, and how to prepare clear and value-adding audit reports. Emphasis is placed on root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and follow-up activities to ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions and continual improvement.

Throughout the session, practical examples and case studies relevant to laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, and accreditation bodies are used to demonstrate the application of ISO 19011 in conjunction with standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17065, and ISO/IEC 17011, supporting effective internal auditing and readiness for external assessments and peer evaluations.
